Very early on a cold, peaceful Tuesday morning, I bumped into this:
“The great question that has never been answered, and which have not yet been able to answer, despite my 15years of research into the feminine soul is-
WHAT DOES A WOMAN WANT???” [sic].
(Just in case you didn’t know, the original question was asked by the father of Psychoanalysis, Sigmund Freud.)
And in sixty-three frantic seconds, I replied:
“Lolz.. Great question? Hardly! You haven’t been able to answer it?! Wheew! 15years of research? Now, that’s a freaging sore record.. All these beg the question- “What type of feminine souls have you been gazing upon?!
What does a woman want? Keep asking, and I might just write a blog post on it sir. #Peace” [sic].
And write a blog post I did!
Before saying anything, I think it is only fair to mention that I actually woke up to a pretty enthusiastically defiant writing spirit and verve. Actually, I “bumped” into “that” question just as I had successfully written, or more aptly, expressively ousted some frustrations on a “forty-line long” poem. Now, I believe you can understand why my response appeared confrontational and “almost too blunt” to a supposedly honest and modest question. Apologies if any offence was taken, but believe me, none was intended.
With all that out of the way, I think we can now focus on the question of the day: “WHAT EXACTLY DO WOMEN WANT?!” Like I have said and I would love to reiterate, this is hardly a great question (IMO). Yet, it is not a simple or dumb one either.
“…To generalize on women is dangerous. To specialize on them is infinitely worse.”
Women in their generality only, simply want one thing and one thing only. Now, it is quite simple because it is a singular desire. However, it is enormously complicated because of you! Yes you, the man.
Women want you, and only you, all the time (is that too much to ask for?!). The hard part is, it is not just the ordinary or mediocre “you” they want. It could even quite possibly not be the “you” that you want to be. Women, irrespective of their type, form, class or intellect, want the you that suits them; the you they can be proud of and jealously call theirs’ and the you tailored only and only for them.
In this light, what a woman wants is plain and simple however you choose to see it. The practicality, and feasibility are however complicated issues for another day and time.
“…Sigmund Freud once said, “What do women want?” The only thing I have learned in 52 years is that women want men to stop asking dumb questions like that.” -Bill Cosby.
