2014 in review

The WordPress.com stats helper monkeys prepared a 2014 annual report for this blog.

Here’s an excerpt:

A New York City subway train holds 1,200 people. This blog was viewed about 4,000 times in 2014. If it were a NYC subway train, it would take about 3 trips to carry that many people.

PROSPECTS OR ‘ALREADY MADE’?

“If you don’t attain a certain level of success, responsible women can’t fall in love with you. It is not because they are materialistic or they like money, it is because they are too responsible to walk into poverty with their eyes opened.” -Anonymous

I have been drawn to these words for the better part of today. Exactly who are “responsible women” by definition?! It’s sad but truly, most Nigerian women are of this school of thought. The “he has to be rich and comfortable” school of thought.

21 LONG DAYS (WEEK TWO)

image

The Ogun state NYSC orientation camp swung into life by the second week. The camping experiences shifted into full gear thence. For one, there were no daunting and exhausting drills to contend with (except for those that consciously signed up for the torture). This coupled with a bit more time to chill, as against the first week, made for a rapid improvement in the fun obtainable on camp. Yet, it could just be that we were all getting used to the rigour and vigour of the orientation camp.

THE BEAST WITHIN- Chapter Eleven

image

Bello woke up later that evening very famished. Not surprising however, he was still doused in the pain of the senseless break-up and eviction. He yawned hard and long, as he was tired and hungry. He had slept for four long, sore and sour hours. Although the boring nap was not therapeutic, he still felt strangely renewed, save for the hunger pangs.

Gentle Man.

What can I say? First she thought I was acting all so weird and not so bubbly as usual, (keen observations actually) and just when I thought she’s cared enough, she actually wrote me a poem! Thanks dearie, you rock!

He was smiling
His perfectly crafted 32
I must be dreaming!
Behind the curtains,
I’m watching.
Amidst the multitude,
He doesn’t notice me.

He was in a tuxedo
Royal blue and charming
Red velvet bow tie, glossy shoes
And I, in my fake Jimmy Choos
Water, wine or booze?
Oh baby! Whichever one you choose!

He was dark and handsome
God’s perfection,
a vivid interpretation!
No voodoo nor intoxicating injections Finely chiseled nose
Kind hazel eyes
When will you be mine?

He was funny and intelligent
What a charismatic young gent!
I was told he’s a writer
The sweet words that emerged from his eyes
I mean mouth
Sometimes in French
Fresh! Like peppermint
“Ce èst bon, trés bon”
How I wish he said
“Veux-tu m’épouse?”

Spying I was once again
My eyes popping
My mind occupied with “oohs” and “ahhs”
And my heart? Firing!
I was…

Oh Idris…
The smile on your lips
Takes me to a far distance
Takes me to sleep
Makes me forget the reasons
For which I weep

Oh Idris…
Your eyes,
Like two petals
They glow with love
They dazzle, they shine!
And tear up in joy
Looking into them is what I enjoy

Oh Idris…
Your skin!
The colour of fine chocolate
Smooth like shear butter
It against mine
The best feeling ever

Oh Idris…
Your laughter
Flashing your sparkling 32
The manliness of your tone!
Piercing through my flesh and bones
It tickles my heart
It tenderizes my soul.

Oh Idris…
Your scent, so welcoming
I inhale deeply
Wanting and wanting
Puts me in a trance
I could be in your arms for eternity!

Oh Idris…
The sound of your drum..
A beautiful rhythm
Moving my hips, toe tapping, belly dancin…
Joy from within!
And you…

And Until You Lose IT….You Never know

When a bird flies off and away, sometimes, it never returns. Right then, we regret our lack of judgement…

She poured her heart to me
She wasn’t afraid
She said it me she loved
How bold she was…
But it wasn’t enough, It sounded like a joke
It cracked me up
I needed a woman, a real woman!
Sexy!
Not my mere secretary,
a woman of class!
Of timber and calibre!

She continued to love me
I could see it in her eyes but she wasn’t for me
I couldn’t just stand it
Like a bitter pill, like a glass of sour wine
I purposely spilled
The woman didn’t just satisfy my desires
And then I had her fired
You can’t blame me, I was truly tired
I had to quench the fire

Then the unbelievable happened
I started to miss her, to think of her!!
Her beautiful smile, and loving eyes And how I could have made her mine Her caring soul and kind heart
I…
